Commerce students from The BJPC Institution visited the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 30th June 2026 as part of an educational industry visit aimed at providing first-hand exposure to India’s financial markets. The visit offered students an opportunity to observe one of the country’s most significant financial institutions and interact with professionals from the industry.
Exploring the Bombay Stock Exchange Visit
The visit began with an introduction to the Bombay Stock Exchange and its role in India’s financial system. Students toured the premises, observed the professional work environment, and gained an overview of the organisations and financial firms operating within the exchange.
Expert Session on Financial Markets
A key highlight of the visit was an interactive session led by Mr. Yunus Qureshi, Head of Finance and Operations at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The session covered a range of topics relevant to the Commerce curriculum, including:
- Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
- Inflation
- Demat Accounts
- Mutual Funds
- Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
- Currency Appreciation and Depreciation
Mr. Qureshi explained how GDP and inflation trends affect stock market performance and investment returns. Students also learned the basics of Demat accounts, mutual funds, and how FDI inflows influence currency appreciation and depreciation concepts directly linked to their Commerce syllabus.
Students were also introduced to the fundamentals of investment planning, diversification, long-term investing, and the methods used to evaluate listed companies through live market data and financial analysis.
Visit Highlights
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where students had the opportunity to engage with the speaker on current financial trends and investment practices. The visit ended with group photographs at the iconic BSE Bull statue, marking the conclusion of an informative and engaging day.
