PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

A Word From Our Principals

Principal: Secondary and Higher Secondary

Mrs. Vandana Nambiar

Malcolm Forbes once described “The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one.”

Welcome to The BJPC Institution and Junior College, Mumbai

It gives me immense pride and privilege to welcome you to our esteemed institution, which has been a symbol of excellence in education since its establishment in 1891, inspired by the noble vision of Seth Byramjee Jeejeebhoy C.S.I.
Located in the heart of South Mumbai, our heritage institution stands as a testimony to a rich legacy of learning, values and progress.

Our iconic building, honoured with the Heritage Award in 1993, and once again in the year 2024, reflects our commitment to preserving our glorious past while embracing the future.

As the Principal of The BJPC Institution and Junior College, I feel honoured to lead an institution that nurtures students of Std. IX-X and Junior College across Science, Commerce and the newly introduced Arts stream.
Our aim is not only to provide quality education but also to empower every student to become a confident, responsible and independent individual.

Recognising the changing demands of the modern world, we have integrated Information Technology, Robotics and Coding into our curriculum, enabling students to develop digital skills and prepare themselves for emerging opportunities.

Along with academic learning, we focus on practical exposure through industrial visits, workshops, career guidance sessions and professional interactions, helping students understand real-world applications of their knowledge.

We take pride in being among the few Junior Colleges offering students valuable internship opportunities, providing them with a platform to gain experience, explore their interests and develop essential workplace skills at an early stage.

At The BJPCI, every student receives individual attention. We continuously monitor academic progress through regular assessments, performance analysis and mentoring by our dedicated teachers. Our focus is to identify each student’s strengths, support their challenges and guide them towards achieving their full potential.

Our committed and compassionate staff believes that education extends beyond textbooks. We strive to develop leadership qualities, creativity, critical thinking, discipline and ethical values among our students, preparing them to face the challenges of tomorrow.

The constant encouragement and support of our Trustees has been instrumental in our growth and success. Their vision and trust inspire us to introduce new initiatives and create better opportunities for our students.

Our proud alumni, who have excelled as doctors, engineers, scientists, architects, professors, entrepreneurs, chefs, artists and professionals across various fields, continue to inspire the present generation. The strong bond of our Alumni Association remains a valuable strength of our institution.

Guided by our motto “Virtuously and Laboriously”, we believe in nurturing honesty, perseverance, excellence and integrity in every student who walks through our doors.

As we move forward, our commitment remains unwavering - to create an environment where every learner discovers their potential, develops their talents and becomes a responsible citizen of our nation and the world.

As rightly said by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam,
“Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, thinking provides knowledge, and knowledge makes you great.”

At The BJPC Institution and Junior College, we continue to provide opportunities that transform learning into meaningful experiences.

My heartfelt gratitude to our Management, Trustees, Staff, Parents and Students for their continued faith and support. Together, let us continue to make The BJPC Institution and Junior College a beacon of knowledge, values and excellence.

Wishing all our students a fulfilling journey of learning, growth and success.

I have spent my entire career doing what I love. The moments when children walk into their classroom...

It is with profound humility and unbridled joy that I reflect upon my journey as an educator. To
dedicate one's life to shaping young minds is not merely a profession—it is a sacred calling,
one that has been the greatest privilege and the deepest source of fulfillment I could ever
have imagined.
Education, I have discovered, is a living, breathing entity—ever-evolving, perpetually
challenging, and endlessly rewarding. The landscape around us has transformed
dramatically. Technology has woven itself into the very fabric of our classrooms, algorithms
have become our silent companions, and digital platforms have expanded our horizons in
ways that seemed impossible just a decade ago. Yet, amidst this extraordinary technological
revolution, one truth remains immutable: the heart of education beats with compassion,
empathy, and human connection.
The most sophisticated algorithm cannot replace a teacher's understanding of a struggling
student's hidden potential. No artificial intelligence can replicate the warmth of
encouragement or the transformative power of believing in a child before they believe in
themselves. Technology is our elegant tool; compassion is our foundation.
What has kept me going, even as the world around education shifted beneath my feet, is a
simple yet profound conviction: every child deserves an educator who sees them
entirely—not merely as a student, but as a unique individual brimming with possibilities.
Every challenge we encounter is an opportunity to innovate. Every disruption is an invitation
to reimagine what learning can be.
Our school stands at the intersection of tradition and innovation. We honor the timeless
principles of education—critical thinking, character development, and intellectual rigor—while
embracing the boundless opportunities of modern pedagogy. We teach our children not just
to navigate the world of today, but to shape the world of tomorrow with wisdom, integrity, and
compassion.
If these thirty years have taught me anything, it is this: Education is the most noble endeavor
to which one can dedicate their life. It is messy, humbling, exhilarating, and profoundly
beautiful. It requires us to be architects of dreams, custodians of knowledge, and guardians
of hope.
As I look toward to the future, I do so with the same enthusiasm as I did when I stepped into
my first classroom three decades ago. The journey continues, and with each new batch of
students, each technological innovation, and each challenge we overcome together, I am
reminded why I fell in love with this profession in the first place.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Together, we are not just
teaching—we are nurturing the architects of a better tomorrow.

In a school, bringing different people and functions together is not just operational. It is about making...

In a school, bringing different people and functions together is not just operational. It is about making sure every person in the school community feels a sense of belonging.

But BJPCI is not just any school. It is an institution that has served Mumbai for over a century, shaped generations of families, and earned recognition from bodies as significant as UNESCO. To coordinate the daily life of a place like this is a privilege. It keeps me focused every day.

My role spans everything that happens between the school and the families we serve. I am the person parents call when something is not right. I am also the person ensuring things do not go wrong in the first place, whether it is a question about admissions, a concern about a child's well-being, or an urgent matter that needs immediate attention.

Nothing falls through the cracks. This is the standard I hold myself to.

I firmly believe that a child thrives when school and home are in sync. That means parents should never feel out of the loop, and teachers should never feel unsupported. Building that trust, one conversation at a time, is what I find most meaningful about this role.

BJPCI has endured because the people inside it have always taken their duties seriously. I carry that same commitment with pride every single day.

I look forward to being your point of contact, your first call, and a trusted part of your child's journey here.

OUR ETHOS

What We Stand For

Our Vision

We envision every student stepping into the world as a socially conscious person, rooted in the tradition of service. They will be equipped with curiosity, knowledge, and values, and prepared for a world that demands both excellence and empathy.

Our Mission

Our mission is to nurture integrity, intellect, and character in students,  guiding them from their earliest years to the threshold of their careers. We are committed to guiding students in a sustainable, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound manner. We support them at every stage of their journey with consistency, accountability, and care.

Our Values

Integrity

We believe in doing what is right, not what is convenient. We build students whose character is grounded in honesty and principle. Ethics and principles lead to responsible leadership and lay the foundation for a better society.

Service

Giving back to society is not an add-on at The BJPC Institution. It is part of who we are. From community service drives to outreach programmes, students learn that their education comes with a responsibility to the world around them.

Excellence

Good values and good intentions are not enough in life. To make a real difference in the world, students must also perform at their best. At The BJPC Institution, we push every student to excel in academics, in conduct, and in character because we believe that excellence turns potential into impact.

Inclusivity

When students from different backgrounds, faiths, and communities learn together, they develop empathy, perspective, and an understanding of the world that no textbook can teach. These qualities make a person genuinely useful to society.

Curiosity

A student who stops asking questions stops growing. We believe learning does not end at graduation. The restless desire to know more is what drives innovation, progress, and meaningful contributions to society.
